Terms of Use

1. About GetMyBooksDone

GetMyBooksDone is a Making Tax Digital (MTD) accounting software service operated by GMB DEV Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). These terms govern your use of the service at getmybooksdone.online and its associated APIs.

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The Service

GetMyBooksDone allows you to:

  • Record business income and expenses digitally
  • Connect your account to HMRC via Making Tax Digital authorisation
  • Submit quarterly updates to HMRC on your behalf
  • View and manage your MTD obligations

The service is intended for use by self-employed individuals and sole traders who are required or choose to participate in Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information when registering
  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Ensuring your National Insurance number and tax identifiers are entered correctly

You must notify us immediately at hello@getmybooksdone.online if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4. HMRC Connection

To submit data to HMRC, you must authorise GetMyBooksDone to act on your behalf via HMRC's OAuth 2.0 process. By completing this authorisation:

  • You grant GetMyBooksDone permission to submit data to HMRC using your credentials
  • You remain fully responsible for the accuracy of all data submitted
  • You can revoke this authorisation at any time from within the service or via your HMRC online account

GetMyBooksDone acts as a software intermediary only. We are not a tax adviser and nothing in this service constitutes tax advice. You remain legally responsible for your own tax obligations.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the service only for lawful purposes
  • Ensure all financial data you enter is accurate and complete
  • Not attempt to circumvent, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service
  • Not use the service to submit false or fraudulent information to HMRC
  • Comply with all applicable laws including UK tax legislation and GDPR

6. Data and Privacy

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the service you confirm you have read and understood it.

7. Fraud Prevention

GetMyBooksDone is legally required under the Finance Act 2021 to submit fraud prevention header data to HMRC with every API request. This includes technical information about your device and network connection. By using the service you acknowledge and consent to this data being collected and submitted to HMRC.

8. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may carry out maintenance, updates, or experience downtime outside our control.

We will not be liable for any loss arising from:

  • Service unavailability or downtime
  • Delays in submitting data to HMRC caused by HMRC API outages
  • Data loss caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control

You are responsible for ensuring quarterly updates are submitted by HMRC's deadlines. We recommend not leaving submissions to the last minute.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss
  • Our total liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the fees you have paid to us in that period
  • We are not liable for penalties, interest, or surcharges imposed by HMRC arising from inaccurate data you have submitted

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Intellectual Property

All software, design, and content in GetMyBooksDone is owned by GMB DEV Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the service.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the service.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, or if we are required to do so by law.

Upon termination, we will retain your financial data for the period required by law (see Privacy Policy) before deletion.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email of significant changes. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
